As Paul Caputo begins to see his reflection, he knows that he is getting closer. He is in the midst of a 10-step finishing process. Before long, a piece of stone is a work of art.
In the world of marble and granite, Caputo international inc. is a family of master craftsmen. For Joseph Caputo and his sons, Vincent and Paul, honing the time honored craft of stone cutting and finishing has become a lifelong pursuit. As world-class artisans, they serve a high-end niche for made-to-order marble and granite pieces. Their specialties are custom table and desktops.
With a national reputation for cutting edge designs and impeccable finish work, Caputo international inc. relies almost exclusively on word-of-mouth referrals. Its client list reads like a who's who of Fortune 500 companies, along with an occasional celebrity. A little closer to home, you can find their marble work in the lobby and conference rooms of Federal Business Centers. Most recently, they did the granite work for the new signs on Raritan Center Parkway in front of Campus 4.
The Caputo family got started in the stone business in the late 1970's. At the time, Joseph and Vincent were working with a furniture manufacturer and Paul was working as a cabinetmaker. When an opportunity arose to purchase a stone company located in Brooklyn, the family members decided to buy the business and apply their talents to the field of marble and granite. In 1981, they relocated the business to Raritan Center.
As the business continues to grow, the Caputos remain dedicated to the highest levels of custom craftsmanship. They use only the finest grades of marble and granite from around the world. They design with the most advanced CAD programs. An they shape and cut with the state-of-the-art CNC machinery from Italy. But it's the buffing and polishing that really sets a Caputo piece of art apart. They use 10 different finishing grits to produce an absolutely beautiful, one-of-a-kind shine. To Joseph Caputo, "Each piece has a natural beauty all its own."
